ওলাশুনি। এই দেবতার নাম অনেকেই শোনেননি। আমরাও জানতাম না। পারাদ্বীপ থেকে ৫৭ কিমি দূরে ওলাশুনি পাহাড়ে বিরাজমান এই দেবী। সকাল ১১.৩০টায় বেড়িয়ে পড়লাম আমরা। শেষ ১২ কিমি রাস্তা খুব মনরম। দুইপাশে ছোট পাহাড় আর সবুজের ঘনঘটা। বেশ কিছুটা পাহাড়ের আঁকা-বাঁকা পথ পেরিয়ে আমরা হাজির হলাম আমাদের গন্তব্যে। সময় লাগল ১.৩০ ঘণ্টা। Parking space এর কোন অভাব নেই। Parking fee ২০ টাকা, ঘণ্টা হিসেবে নয়। এখানে জানিয়ে রাখি যে রাস্তায় কোথাও খাবার জায়গা নেই, তাই সেই রকম প্রস্তুতি নিয়ে বেরনই ভাল। পৌঁছতেই আমরা এক বিশাল ভীড়ের সম্মুখিন হলাম। বোঝা গেল, যে এই দেবতা খুব জাগ্রত এবং ভক্তদের ভালই সমাগম হয়। আমরা এগিয়ে প্রবেশ করলাম মন্দিরের মধ্যে। এই মন্দির বিখ্যাত হয় জনৈক odiya লেখক, দার্শনিক এবং যোগী আরক্ষিত দাস এর কারণে। আরক্ষিত দাস জন্মেছিলেন গঙ্গা রাজবংশে অষ্টাদশ শতাব্দিতে। তিনি সমগ্র Kalinga (Odisha) ভ্রমন শুরু করেন উপযুক্ত ধ্যান করার স্থানের সন্ধানে। অবশেষে এসে উপস্থিত হন ওলাশুনি পাহাড়ে, যা সেই সময়ে কেন্দ্রাপাড়ার রাজা রাধাশ্যাম নরেন্দ্রর অধিনে ছিল। আরক্ষিত দাস এর অনুরধে রাজামশাই রাজি হন তাঁকে ওই পাহাড়ে থাকতে দেন। আরক্ষিত দাস শুরু করেন ওলাশুনি মাতার আরাধনা এবং ধ্যান সাধনা। ১৮৩৭ সালের ১৯শে জানুয়ারী আরক্ষিত দাস আত্ম-সামাধি নেন ওই স্থানেই।

বাইরে জুতো খুলে মন্দিরে প্রবেশ করতে হয়। মন্দিরের ভিতরে প্রসাদ এর দোকান রয়েছে। কেউ চাইলে প্রসাদ, মুলত মিষ্টি, কিনে পুজো দিতে পারেন। ওলাশুনি দেবি ছাড়াও জগন্নাথ দেব এবং মহাদেব এর মুর্তি রয়েছে। পরিছন্নতার ওপর বিশেষ নজর আছে মন্দির কর্তৃপক্ষের। সব দেবতা আর দেবীর আশীর্বাদ নিয়ে আমরা বেরয়ে পরলাম ফিরে আসার জন্যে।

গুরুত্বপূর্ণ তথ্যঃ

ভুবনেস্বর থেকে দূরত্বঃ ৮৭ কিমি , ২ ঘণ্টা । কটক থেকে দূরত্বঃ ৬৫ কিমি, ১ ঘণ্টা ৩০ মিনিট ।

বাসের সুব্যাবস্থা না থাকায় রেলওয়ে স্টেশন থেকে গাড়ি ভাড়া করে আসাই ভাল।

Swaminarayan Temple-Jamnagar

Swaminarayan Temple is located close to Jamnagar Airport  on Jamnagar-Dwarka highway. Its a must visit place for people who are on there Saurashtra Trip.The place is huge and well maintained.The best time is in the evening to stay away from the bad heat in the morning & afternoon. Weekends are extremely crowded with people.The temple carvings are beautiful but it cannot beat Prem Mandir in Vrindavan.  There are 3 idols in the temple including Lord Swaminarayan.
Parking area is huge but still it can be tough during weekends.

Cleanliness is excellent.

Mukteshwar Temple -Near Nainital

Around 60km from Nainital is  Mukteshwar. A sleepy hilly town in the midst of nature. The place is known for  Shiva Temple and a decent view of Nanda Devi Himalayan Peak.The shiva temple  at Mukteshwar is more than 200 years old. It was set up by a saint who took samadhi here at Mukteshwar.The temple is  nestled right on a hilltop.

 You need to climb a lot of stairs to reach the temple premises. Climbing can be tough for people who have arthritis pain. It is a quiet place  surrounded by oak trees.You will not see many tourists here, except locals.Mukteshwar temple is very close to the beautiful KMVN hotel. If the weather is clear, you would surely see the Himalayan range Trisul and Nanda Devi. I got a glimpse but weather was not good. 
Tips: Don't forget to try out "  Pears and Ram fhal (fruit)"  sold by the locals right outside the temple. They are sweet juicy and aromatic and definitely worth a try.
While returning back to Nainital stop by at Nirvana Organic Kitchen for lunch or a  coffee break.

A perfect place to relax  and enjoy the dreamy view while sipping hot coffee.

Beautiful Prem Mandir , Vrindavan

Prem Mandir 

If you are in Delhi and planning for a trip to Agra and its surrounding areas, keep some time in your hand and make sure you visit the Prem Mandir in Vrindavan. This beautiful temple will make you forget Taj Mahal. Trust me, I am not exaggerating !  This Incredible temple is known as the Temple of Love.It is located in Vrindavan. As I was living in the holy city of Mathura (near Janmabhoomi)  weekend visit to the temple was a must for me! I was so much in love with Prem Mandir. It was about 12 km from Mathura and my  " Dhanno" (scooty ) was always ready for such road trips.

 Who says that fine artists were only found during the Mughal era?This temple will prove you wrong.Made up of Italian Marble, Prem Mandir was built by 1000 of artisans working for 10 long years. The whole temple depicts the story of Lord Krishna engraved beautifully on the marble walls.

 The chandeliers will make you awestruck with enchantment and the idols of Lord Krishna,  and Lord Ram will make you experience the love of Lord- in the true form of devotion. They are beautifully dressed and heavily ornamented.

I usually stay back till 7 in the evening  just to see the aarti.  The temple has been maintained very well. You need to keep your shoes in the shoe counter before entering the temple premises. By dusk the temple gets brightly lit with different colors of light. They are no "Pandas"  to bug your life out. No one will bother you for donations. A soothing breeze and a quiet  humming of Hare Krishna Hare rama from the temple will bring inner peace to your mind.

Beside Prem Mandir you can also visits places like Banke Bihari Temple, Vaishno Mata Temple,and  Iskon Temple.They are all lined up one after the another.

                             Evening: 4.30-8.30pm

Pavagadh Hill is about 45 km away from Vadodara City In Gujarat.  My Trip to Gujarat was simple due to my husband's emergency work at Dahej.  we decided to  make a trip to Pavagadh the day we had our flight back home.  We heard it is one of the oldest Kali temple built in the 11th century and draws thousands of pilgrims every year .  The place is Known to be UNESCO heritage site.

So, we set out for Kali temple in Pavagadh, Baroda. The monsoon was too much in Gujarat.It was drizzling  throughout. From the crowded city, we entered a quiet  hilly region.It was green everywhere ad surrounded with mountains. The roads were curvy and the scene was beautiful. 

The temple was up on the hills and one can either take a rope-way or climb the mountain which would take more than an hour. We got  the ticket. The rope-way was  enclosed and was pretty safe. It was pretty decent, compared to any other  rope-way in our country specially Rajgir. The temple was built in the 11th century and represent Mahakali.

The ticket Cost around 90 INR one way ride.  Some people preferred walking. But in the rain  the roads were extremely muddy.The kali temple was on the hilltop and on a ropeway ride it was a mesmerizing scene.It took 15min to reach the point. From there we had to walk again for another 15min. The roads and the steps were extremely muddy. Donkey’s poop was also quite annoying and it was everywhere.  We both managed a good darshan, the wind chill was making me feel sick as I was all drenched in the rain. Without any delay we returned back to our car and proceed for our journey back home I loved the  greenery but if I visit the place I will surely avoid monsoon season.

Navagraha Temple Pondicherry

I absolutely love eating dosas and idlys daily! Staying in Chennai in fact Chidambaram wasn't tough for me.But my mom absolutely missed North Indian food.She was missing Samosa and other dishes and had tough time eating dosas specially where I use to stay(chidambaram).  There isnt much place to see in Pondicherry except for the beautiful Auroville,but we heard from the local autowala about Navagraha Temple. This temple is 7 kilometers from Pondicherry. Navagraha Temple can be on your one day  trip from Pondicherry. You need to hire an auto and visit the temple but don't forget to bargain as they charge insanely! 
It is located away from the crowded city .The mud roads were narrow and through the woods.It didn't look like a temple as its a 2-acre farmland surrounded by trees and huge deities in the middle. The entrance got  a small Ganapati temple where people can pray.Once you enter you can see a 27 feet beautiful Sanidev deity.!!   We roamed around for an hour and then decided to go back to Pondicherry. A very peaceful place.
